Special Olympics

For many years, Lions have actively supported the Special Olympics.

MD112 Belgium is involved in the Healthy Athletes Program (HAP) since 2003.  They have set up this programme in collaboration with Special Olympics and support this health programme every year both financially and with many volunteers.

Over the years, this collaboration with Special Olympics Belgium has developed into a Gold Sponsor.

In order to continue its involvement in a sustainable way, MD112 Belgium created a national commission in 2017.  Its mission is to continue to support the international project for: inclusion and equal treatment of people with a mental disability.  First of all in all aspects of our society, but especially in the health care sector.

This project is also supported on an international level.  Lions Clubs International is involved in the Opening Eyes programme as a global sponsor.

Committee action: annual support of the health programme during the National Special Olympics Games, held alternately in Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels.
